Minimum Seed Count: 15

Burmese Okra is a standout heirloom known for its tender, buttery pods that stay remarkably soft even when they reach 8-10 inches long. This variety grows fast and produces heavily, giving you long, pale-green pods that slice like velvet and cook down beautifully without getting stringy. The plants are tall, sturdy, and heat-loving — perfect for gardeners in warm climates who want reliable harvests all summer long. One of the best okras for both fresh eating and frying, and an absolute favorite among home growers for its productivity and flavor.

Planting Guide:

• When to Plant:
Sow outdoors after soil warms to 70°F+, typically 2–3 weeks after your last frost. Okra needs consistent warmth to sprout.

• Starting Indoors (Optional):
Start seeds 3–4 weeks early and transplant once nights are warm. Scarifying seeds or soaking for 12–24 hours boosts germination.

• Planting Depth:
Sow seeds ½–1 inch deep.

• Spacing:
Give each plant room — 12–18 inches apart in rows 3 feet wide. Burmese Okra grows tall.

• Sunlight:
Full sun — 8+ hours of direct light daily.

• Soil Needs:
Rich, well-draining soil. Add compost for best yields. Slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0–7.0).

• Watering:
Water consistently, about 1 inch per week. Mulch to retain moisture and boost production.

• Growth & Harvest:
Plants reach 5–7 feet tall.
Harvest pods at 8–12 inches, even if they look big — they stay tender! Pick often to encourage new growth.

• Season Length:
About 60 days to first harvest.
