🌱 Planting Guide:
Soil Preparation:
Use a rich, well-draining soil mix with a pH between 6.0–6.8. Blend compost or aged manure before transplanting for nutrient support.
Starting Seeds:
-
Start Indoors: 8–12 weeks before your last frost date.
-
Germination Temp: 80–90°F (27–32°C) — consistent warmth is key for superhots.
-
Germination Time: 10–21 days, sometimes longer. Use a heat mat and humidity dome for best results.
Transplanting:
Move outdoors once nighttime temps stay above 55°F (13°C). Harden plants off gradually to avoid shock. Space 18–24 inches apart.
Sunlight:
Full sun (at least 6–8 hours daily). These thrive in heat and light.
Watering:
Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Deep watering once or twice a week is better than frequent shallow watering.
Fertilizer:
Use a balanced fertilizer early on (like 5-5-5), then switch to one higher in potassium and phosphorus once flowering starts.
Growing Season:
90–110 days from transplant to ripe pods.
Harvesting:
Fruits start off light green/cream and ripen to a glossy white or pale ivory. Handle with gloves — these pods pack serious heat!
🌶 Heat Level:
Approx. 800,000–1,000,000+ Scoville Heat Units (SHU) — ghost pepper level heat with a smooth, fruity burn.
