Minimum Seed Count: 10
The Sun Queen Tomato is a radiant little beauty that lives up to its name. These fruits glow with a bright golden-yellow hue, dark indigo shouldering and a soft orange blush as they ripen. Beefsteak type tomatoes are round, smooth-skinned and glossy, standing out like drops of sunshine among the dark green foliage. Clusters of fruit ripen together, giving the plant a cheerful, almost ornamental look in the garden. Their color and sheen make them look like orbs of light, perfect for adding brightness to summer salads and garden harvest baskets. Semi Indeterminate
🌱 Planting Guide:
📦 Seed Starting
-
Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before your last frost date.
-
Sow ¼" deep in moist, well-draining seed mix.
-
Keep soil warm (70–80°F) for best germination.
☀️ Transplanting
-
Harden off seedlings before moving them outside.
-
Plant once soil temps stay above 60°F and all danger of frost has passed.
-
Space 24–36" apart in rows or raised beds.
🌿 Growing Needs
-
Provide full sun (6–8+ hours daily).
-
Stake or cage these vigorous plants to support heavy clusters.
-
Mulch around the base to retain moisture and keep soil temps steady.
💧 Watering
-
Water deeply and consistently, aiming for 1–2 inches per week.
-
Avoid overhead watering to reduce risk of blight—water at the soil line.
🍅 Harvesting
-
Fruits ripen to a striking mix of Golden Yellow topped with purple brush strokes!
-
Pick when the red blush is rich and the fruits are slightly soft to the touch.
-
Enjoy fresh off the vine, in salads, or as a sweet-tart garden snack!
